One manifestation of this considerable growth is a change in the heat island signature of the city. Over the course of 12 years, between andthe mean nighttime surface temperature heat island of Houston increased ± K in ://   A weak urban heat island or urban heat sink phenomenon, for example, has been observed in semi-arid and arid climates (where the rural areas are desert shrub-land) despite high urban densities (Bounoua et al.,Brazel et al.,Lougeay et al.,Pena,Shepherd, ).

The contrast of vegetation cover in urban and surrounding areas modulates the magnitude of the urban heat island (UHI).

This paper examines the seasonal variations of the UHI using the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS), surface meteorological observations, and the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) :// ///Seasonal-Variations-of-the-Urban-Heat-Island-at.

Urban heat island is among the most evident aspects of human impacts on the earth system. Here we assess the diurnal and seasonal variation of surface urban heat island intensity (SUHII) defined as the surface temperature difference between urban area and suburban area measured from the MODIS.

Differences in SUHII are analyzed across global big cities, and we assess several    Urban land use detection. National land use/cover dataset of China (NLCDC) from the s to has been developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and it has become a main source of authoritative data for land use and cover change studies in the late s within China (Liu et al.,Zhang et Diurnal and seasonal change of the urban heat island in Austin, ).This study selected the dataset at scale (Zhang et al., ) to   Climate change caused by increased anthropogenic emissions of carbon dioxide (CO 2) and other greenhouse gases is a long-term climate hazard with the potential to alter the intensity, temporal pattern, and spatial extent of the urban heat island (UHI) in metropolitan ular meteorological conditions—including high temperature, low cloud cover, and low average wind speed—tend to   Urban heat island warming can be a potentially life-threatening matter, often disproportionately affecting poorer areas.

Collected data will provide Roanoke with a map and report of its urban heat The impacts of land-cover composition on urban temperatures, including temperature extremes, are well documented. Much less attention has been devoted to the consequences of land-cover configuration, most of which addresses land surface temperatures.

This study explores the role of both composition and configuration—or land system architecture—of residential neighborhoods in the Phoenix Results show that (1) diurnal variations of the seven energy fluxes were found with different magnitudes, (2) seasonal variations appeared for the seven energy fluxes with their maxima in summer and minima in winter, (3) diurnal and seasonal variations of respiration caused by the biological and chemical processes within the soil were found   J.: Analysis of urban surface morphologic effects on diurnal thermal directional anisotropy, Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, In Press Hu,L, Wilhelmi, O., & Uejio, C.:Heat exposure in cities: combining the dynamics of temperature and population.
